Most products are just practically impossible or uneconomical to manufacture as a
single piece. Products are typically joined or assembled from individual parts and
components. Though there are many ways to join metallic parts and materials, welding
is the most applied. Welding is the process of joining metals by the application of
heat and/or pressure with or without filler metal.
Aside brazing and soldering which are differentiated from welding majorly by the process temperature, other common joining methods are mechanical fastening and adhesive bonding. SpecRite works with you to select the appropriate joining process; set up appropriate design of experiment (DOE) for your new process or to improve current process; develop welding procedure specification (WPS); create welding procedure qualification (WPQ), and apply appropriate nondestructive testing (NDT). Surface treatment of metals is any process that either apply coatings or modify the surface of the material in order to increase the material's resistance to corrosion, wear, fatigue, and thermal degradation.
